Case Studies
Community and Residential Information System (CARIS)
The Challenge
British Columbia's Ministry of Child and Family Development (MCFD) required a case management system that was suitable for 4 diverse program areas under differing legislation. Each of the program areas needed their unique information collected, while there was a common base requirement for integrated case management. Further, there was a desire to share common client information between the four program areas while maintaining a high degree of privacy for clinical client information.
The four program areas, the Provincial Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (PSDHH), Youth Forensic Provincial Services (YFPS), the Maples Adolescent Program (MAC), and Child and Youth Mental health (CYMH), anticipated ongoing business process changes and therefore required an agile solution that could maintain data integrity and implement changes rapidly.
The Solution
CARIS, an application configured from the SectorLynx framework, utilizes its N-Tier architecture, re-usable Public Health Conceptual Data Model database, and Ethical Distribution of Security Access™ (EDSA™) to meet MCFD's requirements. With its seventeen modules, the system supports the entire case management process for all four program areas, providing a consistent process for recording diverse information.
